I received the following reply from Judge Grewal's courtroom deputy in response to my questions

1. It says Acer, et al and HTC Corporation et al. Would you clarify who the
"et al" is.
"et al" refers to other parties listed on the docket other than Acer, Inc.
and HTC Corporation. I see Acer, Inc., Acer America Corporation, etc and
HTC Corporation and HTC America, Inc.

2. Judge Grewal's calendar indicates that a jury trial is scheduled to
begin for both cases on Sept. 24 at 9:30. I thought the cases are being
tried separately rather than together. If so, how can they be scheduled at
the same time?
Cases will be tried separately as ordered 9/6/13. For purposes of
coordinating jurors, we still have both matters on calendar. Calendar will
be updated shortly.

3. There is a motion hearing for both cases scheduled Oct. 15. What is the
motion hearing about?
Motion to Quash by Texas Instruments.

4. Has judge Grewal ever ruled on the Motion for Summary Determination? Is
it likely that he will before the trial begins?
I don't believe he has but when he does an order will be filed providing
attorneys with electronic notification.
