Our "leaders" are not powerless, nor are they not sharp enough, they are simply looking out for themselves only and taking as much of the low hanging fruit (nuisance value) money they can find. They apparently don't care about shareholders, at least that is the impression I get. Perhaps now with a court victory they'll find it easier to extract legitimate licensing fees from infringers. They may want to wait and see how the ITC plays out before releasing the hounds (Otteson et al). We shall see.
