As is the case in a deposition, the objective is often to say as little as possible and limit answers to as few words as possible and ideally just yes or no answers if at all possible. The trick is to do so without appearing hostile, non-coperative or overly vague.
Not answering at all is the easiest way to make sure that nothing can be misinterpreted. Unfortunately there is not crime in silence unless under the order of law.
