From personal experience when hiring my own staffs, and from interaction with many executive recruiters, the resume is just a starting point nowadays. A Linked In profile with good recommendations is important, clean and professional use of social media is investigated and Google is executed. You can imagine what Google is going to spit out.
He can borrow my referee's whistle any time he wants to blow it. Heck, I'd even buy him a new one rather than wash mine.
