Questions on Apple deal

Maybe this has been explained before, but to clarify and reiterate:

For the Apple deal, did not our representative on PDS have to approve of it?

Or ... was it after we discovered the low-ball amount attributed to MMP that Patriot filed a suit against TPL? How long was it after the deal was inked that we filed suit? And did that new agreement just then call for our representative on PDS to approve of any deal?
