HTC made a strategic sacrificial Settlement, it's one that absolutely stengthened the negotiation hand of other Infringers, guarantees face saving and a few years of future salaries to the PTSC BOD and their enablers, and one that assures MMP License fees will never be more than pocket change to the industry. Congratulations, well played.
Think of this event as a "Truce"; with the electronics industry winning, PTSC Insiders winning, and Shareholder's investment potential paying that price to make the peace.
A settlement of this magnitude, with life remaining implications to the MMP, is one that I believe guarantees that MMP licensing fees will never again be a concern or burden to the Boardroom or bottom line of any microprocessor or products company. As a loose analogy, I think of this Settlement as something like a "Faustian Bargain".
The BOD can now trumpet this masquerade, and the nusiance fee licensing parade of infringers can now begin, but first, someone please lift this bus off of us PTSC stock holders.
With a wimper, folks; it's over.
