The news was the news. I guess the question to you is, should people be given false hope or the simple truth? I've never found that burying one's head in the sand is the right way to go. Actual news, reasonable conjecture and honesty is far more useful to most in making an informed decision, whatever the decision may be.

The truth is sometimes painful, but shooting the messenger seems a little petulant and unnecessary.
