The most common use of the word subsidiary in the business world is one designating a parent/subsidiary relationship, where the parent owns the subsidiary.

99% of anyone with any kind of business background would read the words ``Apple is a subsidiary of Microsoft`` and say the person that uttered those words didn`t know what he is talking about. For you to come on here and try to rationalize this by saying that by one of the definitions of ``subsidiary``, anlyst is not wrong, says a lot about you.
