OK I`m in a rush so I`ll pull these numbers from the top of my head. Correct me if I`m wrong at any point.

1) PTSC got $10 million is the HP deal

2) PTSC`s share of any settlement is 45% (assumption, based of my memory of the master agreement with TPL)

3) According to the latest article, the cost to defend against IP litigiation can run to 5 million dollars

By my math (10/.45 = 22.22) HP paid Alliacense $22 million dollars, of which PTSC received 10 million.

My question, if PTSC is ``holding a gun to the industry`s head``

why is HP paying Alliacense over 4 times the stated going rate for IP litigation defense?
