Ron,

You really ought to open a discount brokerage account. I have Etrade and I very pleased with their Protrader platform. Transaction fee is $9.99, any amount. I also get realtime charts from IQCharts. They are a big help in analysis and making trading decisions. On Etrade executions are nearly instant and there is a huge amount of information at your fingertips.
