RFID vs. GPS Two Entirely different animals...
Aeroscout is an excellent product, one of two we previewed for our internal RFID solution (the other was PanGo Networks). Actually, Aeroscout and my company (Cisco) have a long standing alliance, and we incorporate their Mobileview software in our wireless controllers. I believe Cisco was once interested in buying AeroScout, but they decided to remain private.
The perfect compliment to Aeroscout would be to integrate some type of GPS technology and the 802.11 solutions they offered us, as our project involved looking for a way to track high dollar assets within our labs, and to show the location if a board was removed from the lab and campus. The Aeroscout solution allows 100% tracking from within any building structure within Cisco, bur once it leaves the inside, tracking is lost - hence the need to convert to GPS.
You need to do some more homework to understand the differences between the two technologies.
BTW, The PanGo Solution did not work for us either, but for other reasons - the PanGo ID tag would actually "talk" to the user (Where AeroScout could not , it would only beacon it's signal) and allow for re-programming on the fly, in service. However, it was not compatible with our corporate data authentication standards, so it was dropped.
