By the way, Iran is a net exporter of oil and a NET IMPORTER of GASOLINE. One relatively easy way to deal with Iran is to throw up a Naval blockade of Iran and not allow it to import any refined gasoline. Allow it to continue exporting oil, as that would benefit the rest of the world, but stop the imporation of gasoline.

In a matter of months the Iranian economy would be seriosuly damaged, if not ground to a halt. It might be just the thing the population needs to get pissed off about and rise up and overthrow their government. I guarentee you it would hurt Iran almost as much as bombing the country, maybe more so in the long run.

The only catch is, that a naval blockade is considered an act of war. That's something that we as a country, and the rest of the world would have to be aware of and put some thought into before we comitted to such an action. But for everyone who is so concerned about direct military action against Iran, it is a very viable option; and one I think should be seriously looked at.
