San Diego Airport

Distance from hotel: 25 mi.
Drive time: 35 min.
Directions: From airport head south on Harbor Drive, left onto Laurel St (East), left at India Street. Follow signs to I-5 North. Follow to Carlsbad exit Palomar Airport Rd. Make Left . Exit Carlsbad South. Hotel is on left.
Getting to and from the Airport
Taxi , typical minimum charge is USD 50.00

I am coming from the North, so I am not sure about the San Diego traffic, but I would imagine that you should give yourself at least 75 minutes as drive time is usually just based on distance with minimal traffic. Marc lives in San Diego, so maybe he can make a recomendation? I am coming from Orange County, and traffic is usually light, at least it has been the past couple years. Good luck.
