1) I think whenever government gets involved it costs more money. Therefore I think smaller government is better.
I think we've all learned that trying to put people in houses they can't afford is a problem for all of us. Both parties are to blame for the mess the economy is in as the democrats that pushed for the low income loans to get people in houses and the republicans for cutting regulations to oversee these financial institutions. And so yes someone paying attention would have been nice. Obama and the democrats have been in control of congress for two years now if he/them had seen this coming why didn't he/they join John McCain in voicing concerns about Fannie Mae and Fredie Mac two years ago? Does the fact that McCain voiced his concerns and Obama didn't, show an ability to see things that are important before they become a problem and which of the two senators exhibited better judgement and more intelligence in your view on that issue?
Has any of the candidates in your mind proven that they are an honorable person to this country by their service or their record as a senator? Would it be fair to say that the environmentalists that shut down the nuclear power plants in this country and eliminated the building of oil refineries in this country has had an impact on fuel prices and energy costs? Since so much of our economy is centered around fuel prices where would our economy be today if the $700,000,000,000 dollars per year was going into our economy. These environmentalist are supported by the democratic party and continue to block off shore drilling, drilling in Alaska and nuclear power. How many jobs would have been created and how much more money could have been pumped into our economy? Money that could be used to fund research and development of cleaner burning cars and more efficient cars and alternative fuels. I know in my own town the environmentalists have shut down the timber industry now we are a bedroom community to Portland and people commute 30 miles to and from work everyday. How many good jobs have diappeared and how much revenue was lost in taxes to the government by the loss of all these jobs.
2) Where is the money going to come from? Well we spend the most of any country for education of our children but they rank much lower to the rest of the world in math and science scores. As John McCain said reform is required and perhaps we need to visit techniques used in other countries to see what seems to work for them and why and how these countries can pay less and get more. We can look at all government programs and determine which programs can be reformed and which programs can be cut, such as farm subsidies. Cut out the earmarks and pork barrel spending, we can cut the wages of our government officials. I like McCains idea of a freeze in government spending except for vital programs as they review programs for reform or cutting. We can create new jobs by building nuclear power plants, oil refineries, clean coal fire plants, drill for oil. These new jobs will bring in new tax revenue and will reduce our dependency on foreign oil. Wouldn't it be nice to see $700,000,000,000 per year go into our economy instead of countries in the middle east, Russia and Venezuela? The money is going to come in the form of taxes from new jobs being created by the influx of cash into our own economy. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see gas prices drop below $2.00 per gallon and a car that gets 100 miles to the gallon of gas. These are all posibilities if we focus our efforts there and allow the energy problem to be corrected. Government has to get out of the way and assist where they can.
4) So you don't think McCains idea of public disclosure of which senators are asking for what money for what project will clean up some of the corruption in Washington? Do you think this is an idea that speaks to McCains intelligence and his leadership abilities? Which senator would you trust more at being less corupt? Obama that embraced the Chicago political machine and asked for 1,000,000 dollars in pork barrel projects and special interests for every day he was a senator or John McCain a man that has never asked for any special interest money?
5) But if you had to pick which candidate do you trust more at keeping his word?
7) I think everyone should be able to get health care as good as the politicians if they desire. I think some people would elect a plan that dosn't need cosmetic surgery coverage. Your idea of employer based health care plans is fine but the problem is that many of us are self employed and or work for very small businesses that can't get the lower cost group rates. I for one pay for my own medical coverage because I have my own business. To keep my premium down we have a $10,000 deductible and I'm still paying $500 dollars a month for health insurance. we pay any time we go to the doctor or buy perscription medicine until our deductible is met. My wife and I can't afford to pay for dental insurance so we pay out of pocket when we go to the dentist. We would love to get a $5000 dollar credit as we could get much better coverage where we would have very little out of pocket expense. I feel why should I be punished for having my own business on health care. I think having a government beurocracy telling me which heatlth care coverage I can have is scary. Just look at how well the USPTO works.
8) What effect do you think the immediate withdrawl from Iraq would have on the stability of the middle east and do you think alquida will be strengthened or weakened by those actions?
12) Do you think it's more important for the president to be more intelligent but have poor judgement in the people he picks to have on his cabinet or is less intelligence Ok if he demonstrates good judgement and picks intelligent people to have in his cabinet? Based on the people that the two candidates have been close to which in your opinion has demonstrated better judgement in the people they have been associated with?
14) So in your view Washington, Jefferson, Adams, FDR Eisenhauer, Truman and Reagon to name a few were too old to be president?
15) So your Ok with the democrats controlling all three branches of government with the most liberal senator and the third most liberal senator in the whitehouse? And you think Obama wont raise your taxes or grow government and will be looking out for your best interests and the best interests of the nation because you trust him with all this power and no checks on what he approves because he's the smartest guy and we can trust him more than McCain?
16) I don't believe in polls. If I did Why would we have the election? I believe this election is closer than the polls indicate. I think when people enter that voting booth they will make the correct decision and that is to put someone in the whitehouse that will control spending and taxes and provide checks and balances for the other two branches of government. We must have checks and balances and we must have someone in the whitehouse that has wisdom from experience.
The actions in the whitehouse for the last 8 years of too much spending and growing government is actually much closer to putting Obama in the whitehouse for more of the same than McCain. Somehow you and many others don't see this and your giving the most liberal senator a license to steal with democratic control of all three branches of government and you don't think this scares the crap out of us neocons and somehow you lefties just don't get this.
