Great post. This is really the heart of what the second amendment provides. It gives every man, woman and child the ability to provide food and protection for their family. The liberal minds in our nation seem to feel that guns are the reason for crime and murder. A reasonable man understands that the gun itself is not the problem, the person using the gun is the problem.

If no guns, then knives, bats hands and any other form of weapon will be used. These other methods are the reason why guns are important. The gun protects you from a distance, before the knife can be used. Most people could not defend themselves against a knife wielding assailant, especially the elderly and infirmed.

Unless you have been the victim of a serious crime you can not know the fear that comes along with it. It's to late to WISH you had a gun once an intruder comes into your house.

Those anti-gun folks better be careful what they ask for because what you have outlined at the end of you post are the real possibilities.
