Please tell me why you believe the federal government can run a national health care system? Give me some examples please.

Medicare - the example of a "single payer" system (government pays for healthcare)

Veteran's Administration - the example of a socialist system (government owns healthcare)

What drives me nuts is when people who don't know what the hell they are talking about protect our current "Soviet' style system of health insurance by calling the "public option" socialism. What's the matter with competition? Except that the insurers say they can't compete with the government. (Meaning they will have to live with less than the billion dollar bonuses they currently receive for killing 18,000 Americans a year)
