Maybe I should not get involved in this anymore then I have already. I have expressed previously that I am healthier then I deserve but I push it by reading some of the post on this board and then I take my pills and keep reading.
One of the Obama administration supporters on this board felt that it was a terrible thing that everybody especially Fox news is piling on poor Van Jones Obama's gree czar. This is one post I could not let go unchallenged and though my thoughts may have already been duplicated by the likes of Wolf, GTO, Bush and Corvette please bear with me.
We must challenge anybody who in their own words before God and the world has proclaimed racist, profanity filled hate filled thoughts. In our country everybody has a right to their own thoughts but when they put those thoughts into the public arena they are open for all types of interpretation and when that person who utters this type of trash does so not only in a public forum but has the ear and confidence and friendship of what is rightfully thought of as the most powerful man in the world (the President of the USA), then we not only have a right but an obligation to stand up and say there is something very wrong here.
This diatribe is not just directed toward Mr. Jones but to so many many of the "Presidents Men" and yes the President himself for in my book I see racism and hatred in our White House where it has not been since ????? (FDR comes to mind as his thoughts on African Americans were thank the Lord molded mostly by his right minded (but socialistic) wife. It was Eleanor who really started the civil rights movement if one does not count that Republican Abe Lincoln. If not for her whatever movement there was toward civil rights (what an archaic thought in the land of the free and the home of the brave where God gave all men equal rights, there never should have been a need for civil rights as that is a given).
How can anybody post in any blog or complain in any forum that we should allow statements made by Jones or the President pass. It is argued that Jones made most of these statements a few years back, (in Jones case some of his statements go back to early this year and in the case of the President I consider his comments about the Conn. police department racist and if said by a man of non color would probably fall under the hate crimes law and he and Prof Gates should be up on charges or for sure at least Gates should be).
Folks, let us all get off our soap boxes for when it comes to Patriotism and Racial/Gender/Religious Hatred I think we can all agree it does not belong here and never has. Let us all agree that we are all Americans and that if we are to pledge allegiance to our Constitution (which means pledging allegiance to each other in a land given to us by Our Creator (those are the words, so sue me) that we need to acknowledge that anything said by an adult of average or above average IQ, (say over the age of 21 with an IQ of at least 85) that no matter how long ago that such a statement was made that we can forgive the person for saying it (if they ask for forgiveness) but we cannot and should never ever forget it was said. Why? Because we owe it future Americans that we have learned by history and no matter how unpleasant we will not repeat it by forgetting words made by an adult while they were an adult. One of the major problems we face in our country is the short memory of our electorate. There is no way that I could ever be elected President (I do have my orginal birth certificate) but I have said and done things that were plain stupid and though I have never been to jail if there was a jail for stupidity I would have my own room.
If that evil man in Northern California had served his full sentence for being a sex predator then he would have never been on the streets and able to abduct an eleven year old girl, impregnate her twice and hold her as his slave for eighteen years and then brag about what a good thing he did. What he did is our fault because in trying to be nice we did irreparable damage to a family that I pray God has mercy on.
Mr. Jones, said things that if esallowed to germinate within this current administration will just be another major problem we will have to overcome in 2012 when Obama loses in his bid for a second term.
I mentioned earlier that we need to all get off our soap boxes and here is my second and last point (at least for now). The reason that Fox is hated by some is that they seem to be the only major news organization that seems to bring up both sides of the political debate. I do not want anybody to think that I do not know that they are for the most part right of center however it cannot be argued that they have folks such as Alan Combs, Geraldo Rivera and many others who balance points of view. Everybody should be asking why our "INDEPENDENT" news organizations are not all reporting (bringing the news to the people) about Mr. Jones. Why are they ignoring any news that might cast a negative slant to the current President? I voted for President Bush twice and as I have said to anybody who will listen he was one of the biggest disappointments in politics I have ever had the pleasure to vote for or against.
I never thought I would say this but the press was even hard on Clinton compared to how they tip toe around Obama. I am in San Diego the nations seventh largest city and yet our one major daily was recently sold to a venture capital firm that fired most in house reporters and gets most of their national and international news from the AP and the New York Times. Two news organizations that without a doubt are no where near objective news sources. We have more ads in our paper now then we have news.
Even if you are a left leaning American you should be disturbed by the biased reporting going on just about everywhere. Why, because if we cannot learn both sides of a story or if we do not get the news at all and most importantly IF WE CARE about truth, freedom and liberty, how will we know if we are caring about the right thing. Hitler, without a doubt manipulated what the German people were told and in his way he was able to manipulate what they thought. The same can be said for Chevaz, Castro, Lenin/Stalin and now even Putnim, Mussolini, Idi Amin, Hussein, Abzerkianm (?) of Iran, the Chinese troika, Little Kim in North Korea...... folks I can go and on but it all starts with a FREE PRESS.
So do not complain about the Fox Network if for no other reason that they are really the only National news outlet that are giving another side to the story or telling the story at all. Just think of what you would have if they were gone or if Obama gets his way and his FCC is allowed to dole out licenses to companies based upon race or political affiliation.
Please, ptsc folks give it a thought and if you agree let others know that we need to have an open media because once you lose it it is very hard to get it back.
God Bless All
Marc
p.s. case in point after the break up of the Soviet Union (thank God), the new Russia had a fairly open press until a couple of years ago when the "open press" started to write negative items about Putnim and his designs of being a behind the scenes dictator. Well if you doubt me please check it out but Russia no longer has a "free press" and it gets less "free" each week.
