67GTO, thank you. It's good that there are some common aspects to life which we can all share and enjoy no matter what our differences. fw
I agree Fat. In fact, I'm sure that if we were to meet that we would find common ground on the majority of topics that we could talk about. It's just unfortanate that when it comes to politics we are on completely opposiste sides. But I do believe that we will never find common ground between us unless we try to openly, and honestly discuss our differences. I believe that in our own ways, the Left and the Right want what they percieve to be the best for our countries; and maybe the world. I think how we define our understanding on various topics and our values is the first step in finding common ground. I believe that the Left and the Right have very diferent definitions for various topics, words, subjects, and values. And so until we can get on the same page with our basic understanding of things; how can we work together to find a common goal?
There are certain people on the Right that feel extreme liberals are a lost cause; not even worth wasting ones time having discussions with. That may actually be true of some of them. Of course the same thing could be said of certain people on the extreme Right. But outside of those extremes on both sides of the spectrum; unless the rest of us can talk and find common ground; the way things are going, we are heading toward ideological warfare. Personally, I would like to find more common ground. And where we can't; I would like for us to work out are differences with open and honest discussion. The way things are going politically and idiologically, I'm not sure we can do that. But I'm willing to try with the more reasonable and realistic people on the Left.
Thoughts?
