Ah yes! The new "Courageous Restraint" award. While it is always unfortunate when civilian casualties occur, it is in fact the uglier side of conflict. But how do we prevent collateral damage? I think it's impossible and I think this kind of thought is detrimental to our fighting forces. Do Al Qaeda or the Taliban care about such things?
This new award may help along with the "nearly gottem but scared the s*it out of them award". This award is given to the soldiers who, when under fire, return fire as close to the enemy as possible without hitting them. It is hoped that these close misses will scare the enemy into realizing that we could kill them if we wanted to but because we "nearly missed" they should consider themselves lucky, drop their weapons and just give up.
