No, it means they don't know who he is after his regular attendance at a 'church' in Chicago presided over by an ultra-radical, and then his choice, or lack thereof, of a church in DC.

Nor do they know, for certain, his true heritage.

They want to know more, but they are apparently not allowed to know more.
