I am not sure which banks you are referring to ..... most are still having to shore up capital as required by government regulators, and the industry has generally written off loans into the trillions. So even if some are making a profit today it is against a horrendous back drop of the last 3 years, and thus in aggregate they are no better off today than they were 3 years, and likely worse off.

The ills of the nation have generally grown in lockstep with the growth of government. It is amazing that otherwise-intelligent people don't realize that fact.
