Your picture may be too large a file size Madam1. If its a personal pic you need to do the following:

  • Make sure you know where the picture is on your hard drive (ie: mydocuments/mypictures/madam1pic.jpg)
  • Go to the pic and right click/Properties and see the file size
  • If the file size is quite large it may not load as it can't be compressed enough by the file shrinking program in Agoracom.

Solution:

  1. Right click on the photo
  2. Pick a program that lets you edit the photo such as Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Picture Editor, Thumbsplus etc. and open the picture in that program.
  3. Click on Edit or Image and find "Resize". You will likely see the photo is quite a large size if the megapixel camera you use is set to high quality (the photo could be 4 to 6 megabits in size).
  4. Make the photo into a 2" x 3" size. Do not save.. Be sure you only "Save As" (ie: save as "madam1thumb.jpg.) You don't want to lose the high quality photo you have but can't use on Agoracom.
  5. When you save to jpg it will ask what quality you want to save it in...click "Medium". This will reduce the file size considerably.
  6. Now go back to Agoracom and download a new Avator using the browse button. Go to the photo (ie Madam1thumb.jpg) and upload it to the site. The smaller the file the faster it uploads as well.
  7. This should be all you need to do. One more thing make sure you complete both steps of the registration. It may not save if you only do Page 1 of 2 and then exit. I'm not sure about this as I always finish the 2 steps.

Enough educmacational stuff for this morning... :) This is good advice for posting to Facebook as well or any other blog. File size is important on the web....many sites have bandwidth limitiations that force them to restrict the size of images uploaded.
