While I used NOT as an example, I would in fact be surprised if NOT does not have AIG layered into their liability program somewhere. The pressure created in the broader insurance markets will be massive. I am presuming that McCain simply mis-spoke. What he should have said is that "An orderly winding up- of a major troubled insurer such as AIG might take two years to avoid inflicting major added costs and risks on a stressed economy and fragile financial system." The post is not about NOT McCain other than as an example of how stupid the comment was. AIG is not the place cling to orthodoxy.
