No I doubt if any company or shareholder would enjoy the loss of one year of production and profits.

Sum...no one ever wants a strike. However sometimes we need to take stock of a situation and look at current realities.

The reality that auto workers are facing today is that we have to compete with Honda and Toyota.

I submit that the entire North American economy is facing a similar reality.

At CVRD Vale Inco in Sudbury even the janitor makes $100,000 per year. That is not sustainable.

The union has already warned that they will not accept cutbacks of any kind. If they continue that stance, there is a high likelyhood of a strike.

This is not the old Inco that is in control. CVRD has operations all over the world. They can make a profit even if the Sudbury operations are not producing.

Unfortunately I don't see either side budging an inch.

No one wins in this game.
