A lot of sabre-rattling in that article, revisiting the theme that no-one else in the RoF fire will be economically viable unless they too make a nickel hit.
What I think they're trying to do is:
(A) By goading, and implied threat, publically pressure the other companies to make a hit which in turn will win the admiration of the market again for ALL RoF companies and get the collective SP's moving north again, or
(B) if they don't make a hit, the added bonus for Noront is the other co's may run out of money through an increased burn rate in an effort to play catch-up and thus make themselves vulnerable to being acquired on the cheap. Because, after all, no sense letting all that "non-economic" chromite go to waste when Noront has nickel, right???
Seems to me that they are feeling some pressure as well, don't they always say that the best defense is a good offense? And they are being as offensive as possible to the other players these days ( double meaning fully intended).
I am, however, always encouraged when Mungall has something to say, and further explanation of the geology and the type of target they are looking for.
Last thing, I had to snicker when they said this:
At the time, Rosseau sought to oust Nemis and his board in a proxy battle, alleging that they squandered their first-mover advantage in the Ring of Fire. But the two sides managed to reach a deal on the composition of the board.
I find particularly amusing the omission of the catalyst for the deal being negotiated ( shareholder uprising). They make it sound like this was just a pleasant business meeting governed by good management and planning and co-operation that got RN out and them in. I guess it's true that it's the victors who write the history books....
