Message: About $400 million in damages

Recently I was watching the news about the flooding in Manitoba, where they put the cost of damages at about $200 million. A quote from the globe and mail states "Mr. Selinger estimated the “global” costs of aid and recovery at about $200-million."

In describing the scope of the damage the article states the following

"The swollen Assiniboine River is in the throes of once-in-three-centuries flooding, which has tested the province’s resources, brought in more than 1,000 military troops and prompted the evacuation of thousands of residents.

“It’s an unprecedented event. We’ve never seen that before in modern history,” Mr. Selinger told reporters Tuesday."

Now, as much as my heart goes out to those affected, I couldn't help thinking of the suffering caused by the destruction in shareholder value here.

Less than two years ago, the stock price was about $3.00. At the time there were about 170 million shares. That amounts to about $500 million market cap.

We are now sitting at close to $.50 with about 200 million shares or about a $100 million market cap.....and that's with about $30 million in cash...there abouts.

That's about $400 million in damages in less than 2 years.

In Manitoba, they are getting government relief. People are reaching out to them in this time of need.

With regards to the destruction in value here, is there any relief....by the BOD or Wes himself....to reach out to shareholders and offer some explanation....to make some attempt to comfort the shareholders. No, rather.....seems like they take this opportunity to reward themselves with more stock options.

Even the government provides no relief. Think about it....we have suffered damages over the past two years....twice as much as the damages suffered by the whole province of Manitoba.... in the worst flood in 3 centuries.....and not a word from Wes....or the government.

I guess when shareholders of a venture capital stock get duked out of $400 million, that is not news worthy. Nor does it require any relief or explanation.
