baosteel states it needs to manufacture outside of China to survive.

Baosteel has a strategic partnership with CIMC

CIMC is the World’s Largest Manufacturer of Intermodal Chassis Container Trailers and just look at their USA operations where they use ...steel from ...China.

https://www.trailer-bodybuilders.com/trailers/cimc-opens-chassis-plant

CIMC produces steel components in China, ships them to U S facilities. There those steel pieces are combined with domestically sourced trailer components to produce trailers and chassis engineered specifically for the North American market.

And look below...that section 232 thing..

Trailer makers, in letters to the administration and representatives in Congress, say the tariff plan “pits one set of U.S. manufacturers against others” and that domestic producers simply cannot supply the specialty products used to make modern transportation equipment.

and all those shipping containers that CIMC makes...

https://containerauction.com/read-news/what-is-corten-steel-and-why-are-shipping-containers-made-from-it

shipping containers are designed to be carried back and forth across the oceans carrying the things that make our everyday life more convenient; things like clothing and bedding, flat screen televisions and computers, and just about everything that you can find at the Dollar General Store.  While on the ocean containers are up against pounding wind and rain, the glare of the direct sun, and the occasional snow storm.  How do they do it? It's simple really; they're built with CORTEN steel and designed to withstand everything thrown at them.

What is CORTEN Steel?

COR-TEN, or Corten steel, is commonly referred to as weathering steel.  The name Corten is the trademarked name.  It may seem counterintuitive, but when exposed to the elements its chemical makeup allows for an early creation of light rust that adheres to the surface of the steel.

The metallurgy of weathering steel

The basic metallurgical difference between weathering steel and ordinary structural steel is the addition of chromium, copper and nickel alloying elements, which give the weathering steel its enhanced resistance to corrosion

Looks like Baosteel opening up a location in USA would certainly help CIMC with that section 232 thing.

And where would they get the nickel, chromium, iron ore ? :)
