Under section 11.1 of Mushkeogwuk Council’s Election Code, it reads; Those candidates employed by, or holding political office with Mushkegowuk Council or holding political office at a First Nation Council, shall be required to take a leave of absence for a forty-five (45) day period prior to Election Day.

The 45 day period takes effect on July 3, 2019 and Grand Chief Jonathon Solomon and Deputy Grand Chief Rebecca Friday are officially on a leave of absence until August 16, 2019. During this period Grand Chief Jonathon Solomon and Deputy Grand Chief Rebecca Friday must not engage in any business of the Mushkegowuk Council.
