POET

They called it POET so I thought I’d write

A poem about some of the things that transpired

And all that it means to all of us here

And all of the things that we have desired

I, like many of us, have been here a long time

And watched the ticker day after day

And dreamed of all that the POET can grant us

Like sugar plums dancing on a sunny beach far away.

Planer opto electronic technology they called her

A patented semiconductor fabrication process they say

Integrating optic electronics on a monolithic chip

We are the only ones who can do it that way

Making microchips that are faster and more energetic

That are100 times quicker or close I am told

and even energy efficient by that same multiple

No wonder we all think it’s a mountain of gold

Doctor Geoff has been working for 20 years plus

On this to see his dream to reality

For which he will surely receive a Nobel Prize

We all know it’s just a mere formality

Some say no, you set your sites way too high

But I think I know the gem that it be

I know it’s worth, I know how people think

And you must start there to make people see.

If you ask very little you’ll get even less

So don’t be swayed to think otherwise

Aim for the top and bargain from there

The result will surely affect all our lives

Patience, how much longer? Only Job knows

But still the time goes quickly by

And we dream of those sunny tropical islands

The reason we cling to our shares that is why.
