Not only can a news release influence the share price, lack of news can do the same.

Most investors are not able to judge from a technical standpoint whether MS5 is material or not. But they can see that MS5 had been announced for Q3 and now there is nothing about it. The consequences: uncertainty rises and the share prices slides or at least doesn't rise.
