Yes, but a major difference here is that RRSPs operate with pre-tax dollars, while TSFAs operate with after-tax dollars. The minimum tax payable to convert RRSP dolars to TFSA dollars will be 10% if you do it in small amounts over time, but it will likely be more if you do a complete liquidation.

The tax-free upside of owning Poet inside your TFSA would easily render these types of RRSP conversion taxes moot, especially if Poet goes to what is becoming a very conservative price of $25.00.
