I am not fully aware of the requirements of the Nobel committee to consider an individual for recognition. It certainly includes original research. What seems to be exceptional is the multiplicity of uses for his development. A glance at his profile, CV and patents highlight this. He is regarded by his peers, pupils and co-workers as exceptional and almost a deity.

His strengths seem to include perseverence, academic brilliance allied to a comprehensive knowledge of materials and electronic and light technology. He has based his philosophy around the limitations of silicon as a material of choice in semiconductors and has taken more than 20 years to get to this point. The scientific output in the news releases seem to be verbatim accounts of his words to the writer of the release. One reassuring pattern in the company, which I credit to him, is the ability not to "overhype" and to only release material that can be positively affirmed and substantiated. I have never had any sense that they are claiming more than is achievable, as so often occurs in other marketing. In other words, he underlies the confidence I have in investing in this company because, I believe, he deals only in facts and truths. He really is a good guy.

The result is we sit, as investors, on the cusp of a breakthrough technology, hints of which are given by the share price increase over the last few months. I hope, and have no reason to doubt, he is supported by a good mangement team who are trying to montetise his achievements. This is not an easy process and requires a quite different set of skills. This means this is a brilliant development and deserves the very best support. I hope his efforts are rewarded both financially and by the highest academic recognition.
