Cash is great, but a swap is fine, too, as you can unload the shares you receive, or, in the alternative, sell your POET shares once the deal is announced and you're pretty sure no other offers are coming. The risk in holding off selling for too long, is that you will be subject to the risk of what the acquirer's share price does, as at that point, POET will trade based on the acquirer's share price, plus whatever premium there might be to reflect the possibility of another suitor or suitors coming along before the deal closes.
