There's a fundamental difference between the Global Semiconductor Forum (GSF) and the Empire Club of Canada (ECC) event, VanVillain.
We knew (almost) right from the start that the GSF's focus would be on one-to-one talks between industry leaders. Okay, they also had some presentations at the GSF, but POET was not on the speakers list, so there was nothing to expect. Since the one-to-one talks were confidential, it was very clear to me that there would not be any news release. Any outcome of the GSF would materialize months later only and possibly without any direct reference to the GSF. Many expected otherwise and were disappointed, causing the harsh pullback after the GSF.
Taylor's talk at the ECC is completely different: No confidential one-to-one talks with select partners, but a public presentation to the world. This no doubt is part of the "2014 – Recognition Year for POET" initiative to make POET widely known. I do expect an exiting news release, I expect a partnership announcement! A pullback, however, is nothing I expect.
