wouldn't spend too much time fretting over this line of thinking right now, too much of a distracting hypothetical tangent.
but to take a quick stab at it: stream of effort on lawyers and/or marketing. but I'd foresee that it wouldn't be PTK doing either of those two alone. if for example, INTC were to start slinging mud, others of their calibre (competitors) would recognize that INTC is threatened, wonder why, and join the fray in support of PTK ("the enemy of my enemy is my friend").
