After listening to the EC broadcast again I came away with a greater appreciation of just how broad and deep Dr. Taylor's achievements, and knowledge, are. His history of the thyristor and the problems previous attemts encountered with it was worth the price of admission. This paragraph from the March 4, 2014 NR describes IP that in itself must be worth a fair chunk of change to segments of the industry.
By the way, I wasn't in attendence and wouldn't recognise a thyristor if it was floating in my morning coffee.
