MrsS: "Not just their ideas will cease, but some companies themselves.... "
I completely agree!
This is why I expect that when POET hits the street adoption will be very rapid. No company can afford to be left behind.
Of course, this will depend on who is involved in early partnerships, and what kind of deal gets POET in the door. If there is any kind of exclusivity like what appears to be in the BAE contract, then the partner will play a big role in how quickly it gets rolled out and which companies can partake in the revolution.
I also think that once the partnership is announced, the SP will be ahead of the curve for once. Once a few deals are signed, new investors will want in before the next deal and so on.
And as for Aves suggestion, I think this will be another revolution as R&D shifts from squeezing the last Moore-juice out of CMOS to developing creative ideas for POET-enabled applications.
Do you ever think that there are ideas out there just waiting to materialize that simply aren't possible with today's hardware? These applications will explode onto the market and become part of our lives like the Internet, GPS, microwave ovens, etc.
So as I've mentioned before, my second strategy (if I ever feel the need to liquidate POET at all - as opposed to treating by brokerage account like a continuously refilling ATM :) will be to track the patent licensing and to research any public company who plans to use POET for a novel idea. It would be nice to find yet another stock with the potential to explode that nobody has ever heard of!
