example.

let's say we're two guys who know lots about roofing.

I have cool new shingles, and you have a really nifty automatic speed-hammer.

when you go roof for your people (military) with my cool shingles, you have to give me a nickel per shingle.

when I go roof for my people (commercial, etc. -- anybody who's not military) with your nifty hammer, I have to give you a penny per shingle (I do more roofs than you do, and I could always just use a regular hammer but it would take me longer).
