NRE Revenue means Non Recurring Engineering (NRE) Revenue.

In the context of licensing POET process IP, customers would pay POET a NRE licensing fee to be able to use POET.

NRE revenue can be phased, typically with an up-front payment and with different amounts being paid later upon specific (customercentric) milestone acheivements.

The up-front payments would vary significantly in value, depending on whether the contract is exclusive or non-exclusive etc.

Following NRE payments, the monetization would typically move to a royalties payment model once product / device sales commence.
