Before I get started, I wish to apologize to the board for this mornings comments. It was not my intention to be anything other thann humorous. I came across the wrong way. I am sorry for that. In future I will stick to business.
I have owned shares since the OPL days when I was on a product presentation to the solar industry. I was informed of the company by someone who was at that function. Most of my staff and the people in our office own it, including my CFO and CTO. I have remained off the boards or forums due to work constraints and my own time issues. In my position now, I have some degree of latitude to participate in public forums. I was little reluctant at first, then thought I might as well give it a try and see what its all about.
The valuation of the company (or our spec model if you like) came about after about 3 months of lunch time chats and further company developments that impelled us to start to put things on a paper then to screen. Myself, our CFO and CTO, along with a couple of staffers who are shareholders, all decided to take roles. This was a fun project at first, however as we delved into the research end, things started to get serious. The internet, technology associations, and many emails and phone calls, allowed us to collect and then collate all the data.
Specifics were few and far between. Although theres much raw data online, all of it had to be (or attempted to be) refined and applied or structured (if found usable or relatable) to our POET model. Theres also some things I can reveal here, and some I can not (proprietary formulas and data). As well, and just a heads up regarding speculative and arbitrary numbers and formulas. Certainly there is some degree of variance required in doing something like this, so it may seem like we pulled something out fo the air, we actually tried our best to make an educated guess or guestimate where applicable.
We decided to role play of a sort. In our first step, we planned on being the PTK management group and wrote down what we wanted to accomplish with this potentially disruptive technology. We extrapolated a mock business plan, marketing plan, and financial plan. We then set about collecting the data.
