When you are as big as Samsung you likely have a lot of R+D irons in the fire, both internal and externally on various different technology fronts.
1. They may know about POET and are waiting to see what POET does next - see final proof points etc. In the meantime, funding research for another year at U of P is not counterproductive.
2. POET could be purchased tomorrow, and they hedging thier bets, ie irons in the fire, on "the GaAS direciton"
3. May look to try to replicate what POET has done, on thier own (good luck with that).
4. Know nothing about POET but could be quite interested WHEN they hear about the first Go-to-market offering.
