Just had a lovely chat with a seat-mate on the ride back from Boston....summary.
He worked for an IC tech company. They make circuitry at higher than 100 nm levels(190?) for things like ovens and fridges and other household stuff as well as high power thyristors? Or transformer units for large things like trains.
His company sells most standard circuits for .40 cents! Larger TRU s obviously cost upwards of 10,000$ per. They do roughly 350 -400million in annual sales at roughly 40% margin. They are listed on the NASDAQ and trade between 12-15 $.
HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF POET.
We discussed briefly about GaAs and what we are heading towards. He was well aware of GaAs tech and said optical and quantum dots were the real grail for IC. We discussed failure rates of GaAs which are known to be higher than silicon. I mentioned the 40 nm scaling target with the node reduction and he was definitely impressed and very interested. I gave him the run down on the last years events. We exchanged contacts and he is going to get back to me with his thoughts.
I am extremely excited to hear what his view of POeT will be given his direct industry connections and knowledge.
Todd weekend all.....
