Message: New Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers for optical interconnects
The point being that to create a VCSEL capable of emitting a laser that large (900+mm) the size of the architecture would inevitably be larger. I do not recall the width of the laser that the Poet derived devices made but it would be smaller, especially at current nodes. The 800nm dimension I referred to was indeed the physical size of the poet tec at the time. Again I do not recall the size of the laser it produced or even if that it was reported. My point was simply to create discussion. What is the node size of the VCSEL they are working on and such. I guess I've done that but had unintended consequences of some here thinking I am wholly ignorant of what POET is and even the difference between physical device size vs laser width. Good times. Oh well.....Derekwpg
