I agree with almost all of what you write bearb8, except the fact that there has been no major wars since ww2.
Korean war: 1.2M killed
Vietnam war: 3.8M killed
Khmer Rouge in Cambodia: approx. 2M killed
Gulf war: 100k+ killed
Rwanda genocide: up to 1M killed
Iraq war: 1M killed
Afghanistan war: several thousand
Not sure how you define "major", but most of the numbers would qualify, to me.
Yes, our generation has not had to fight a "world war", and thus have been fortunate, but governments still feed the military industrial complex to enable wars, most, if not all of them completely unnecessary.
Unless people stand up to their governments who promote these wars, we will all lose.
I hope that POET is used for peaceful purposes, to advance our race, to help us explore previously unattainable subjects.
