Question to the Masses

At what point is a publicly traded company required to release news when material developments affecting the value, leadership, revenue (timing of) have occurred?

In what time frame do they have to release this information to the public/shareholders?

Seeing they are looking to get on the NASDAQ, I am sure POET would want to remain within these timeframes to appease the SEC?

I am not implying aforementioned events have occured in the case of POET, I am curious to know what that window is.
