This is called material implication in boolean logic. If a given premise is true, then a given conclusion follows. An interesting special case is that you can "deduce" anything from a false premise, i.e. "if 1 equals 2, then is will start raining" or "if christmas and easter are on the same day, I'll give you my POET shares".
