Hi Jack,
This was not a proposal, just an idea to oppose the thesis that PNP would sell Poet shares into the open market - dumping the SP (see this stupid analyst comment at BNN). And I guess it would somehow make sense:
In our expectation, the value of PTK is much higher than 3 CAD, - possibly 30 or 300, - but Pinetree has severe problems - now!
So such a scenario would save their neck - now! OK, possibly selling 10 Mio shares would do this job, as at the same time the SP of PTK would rise - possibly further than 3CAD, lifting their NAV and keepig their potential for much higher yealds in the coming years.
In other threads we discussed the possibility that a potential partner of PTK would eventually plan to participate in POET. So this would also enable such a participation without issuing further shares (dilluting further our SP). The market for PTK shares is quite narrow, so also here buying in the open market would explode the SP.
By the way:
- PNP is holding at the moment 12,3 Mio shares + 1,5 Mio shares from their Feb.2015 warrants, and they are still holding further 6,3 Mio warrants, totally about 20 Mio.
- PNP market cap is 202Mio x 0,075 CAD = 15,5 Mio CAD!
