I just got finished reading many, many posts, and I am absolutely astonished with the unanimity of feeling here. I am going to break that up, and then you guys can start in again - don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading all the posts, I just can't believe how giddy everyone is.
First, as I've said many times, the short interest is almost irrelevent, less than 1% of the outstanding number of shares is short, that is nothing. There might be a "short squeeze," but we will hardly feel it, and any gain that might occur because of it, is often lost in the few days after the short interest is reduced.
Second, I don't know exactly what to make of the video in terms of it being released and then it be removed. I assume POET didn't want it out there, and I agree with them, because it was a sales pitch, it was not like these guys were speaking at a conference, they were trying to sell those rich old guys a story, so that they'd buy the stock, and get the share price up. Our guys surely figured that those old guys weren't stepping up to the plate (other than perhaps dipping their toes in), until we get a new CEO (to me, a "hitter" in that position is the best thing we can hope for, sorry, realistically hope for). To me, the carrot of the NASDAQ was placed in front of those investors, the thought being that the investors know that the share price needs to be a lot higher to qualify, and if PC is gettin' us there by June, then they better buy some stock soon or miss that "inevitable" run-up.
There are, of course, other realistic hopes, to be sure, as have been chronicled here time and again. And all are good. And this stock run we've had recently, that's great and may get even greater.
But for some to say the price of the stock doesn't matter to a buy out offer? Of course it does, unless the tech is already proven (or at the time of any offer is proven), so that a hot bidding war can actually occur. No bidding war is going to heat up that much if the tech is pretty much foolproof at the time. Sure, we could be worth a lot more than $250,000,000, but more than a billion? Not without some real decent evidence, and $5 billion, not without really good evidence.
On the other hand, if the tech is proven to be as good as people like oogee, Rainer and, naturally, FJ thnk it is, then, yes, an all out bidding war could ensue. I just don't think we're there yet, and the share price is telling me that (not to mention we haven't yet had the two or three NRs we all are waiting so anxiously to see).
I've seen people do some about faces around here that has my own head spinning.
Hoping for all of you to be right on the money, really, but don't think you are (yet, anyway).
I really feel like I just stepped in front of a steamroller doing about 50mph!
Good luck to all!
