GlobalFoundries is seeking to add nearly 500 parking spaces to its $10 billion Fab 8 computer chip manufacturing plant in Saratoga County, according to the Daily Gazette.
According to the report, the company wants to expand each of its four parking lots to add a total of 495 new spots, increasing its total available parking to 2,832 spaces.
The proposal is scheduled to go before the Malta Planning Board tonight.
The board recently approved the expansionof the GlobalFoundries plant to include another central utilities building and bulk gas yard, as well as more high-voltage transmission capacity on its Luther Forest Technology Campus. Those improvements are needed to support additional customer demand and new tools that will be installed at its Technology Development Center.
