In another life I once was planning to open a small retail business in a small town that I lived in. There was a local newspaper there that I could take out a 1/4 page ad in or half page - whatever. But I knew that human nature, that we are curious and don't like questions unanswered. So the pre-advertising strategy that I took - 2 months in advance of opening was a pair of cartoon eyes with the caption " It's coming ". Two weeks prior, I changed the caption to " It's almost here ". Inexpensive ads that got people in the community asking questions as to what this was about. It worked! Opening day was standing room only. Not everyone was there to buy fishing tackle...lol
